Abstract: Five species and two varieties in the genus Rhododendron from Guangdong, Guangxi and Sichuan, namely R. chunienii Chun & Fang, R. dentampullum Tam, R. gonggashanense W. K. Hu, R. polyraphidoideum var. montanum Tam, R. subenerve Tam, R. subenerve var. nudistylum Tam, and R. viscigemmatum Tam, are reduced to synonymies. R. shimianense Fang & P. S. Liu is treated as a form of R. lutescens Franch., and thus a new combination, R. lutescens Franch. f. shimianense (Fang & P. S. Liu) Y. Y. Geng, is proposed.
