th position in the Evolutionary Biology category. In parallel, the journal’s Scopus CiteScore is 7.7, placing it in the top 9% of its field.
The journal continues to expand its global reach. Indexed by SCI, Scopus, CSCD and other major databases, JSE now records over 270,000 annual full-text downloads, with overseas readers accounting for 70% of total usage. Committed to shaping research directions, JSE has launched a branded series of special issues centered on the Himalaya. Two issues have already been published:
• 2025 Issue 1: “
From sea level to world roof: Uplift history and biological evolution of the Himalaya”
• 2026 Issue 2: “
Systematics and biodiversity conservation in the Himalayan region”
The series is now expanding with a third issue currently open for submissions: “
Distribution Patterns, Evolutionary Process and Adaptation in Himalayan and Adjacent Mountain Regions.” Researchers working on relevant topics are warmly invited to contribute.
Virtual Issues and Ongoing Resources
To help readers track emerging hotspots, JSE also curates a collection of Virtual Issues covering fields from adaptation, speciation and domestication, evolutionary genomics and biogeography to evolutionary developmental biology.
These collections are freely accessible at
