Studies on the species of Sedum sarmentosum and S. angustifolium

Abstract: The Chinese medicine “Chuipencao” is studied. But, as a matter of fact, this Chinese name represents two distinct forms, one with broad leaves and the other with narrow leaves. As a result of a comprehensive study on gross morphology, pollen morphology, histological structure, isozymes, GC analysis of chemical constituents of the plants in question has shown that the narrow-leafed form is different from the broadleafed form and therefore is considered as a new species, Sedum angustifolium Z. B.Hu et X. L. Huang sp. no
