Abstract: In this paper a new species of Nitella, N. vermiformis, from Sichuan is reported. The new species is the similar to Nitella procera Han from Yunnan. But gametangia of the latter grow in every furcte, and fertile branchlets are similar to sterile ones. There are not central radial branchlets and accessory branchlets in first furcate branchlet; the membrane ofoospore is vermiform-processed.
